The LG Signature Analyzer

When LG launched their new Signature line of products, they needed much more than just a few videos. To reinforce the campaign idea that everyone has their own signature, to engage our audience, and to encourage sharing, we did what every self-respecting BuzzFeed reader would do: we created a personality test. Based on the methodology of several classic tests, I designed 8 questions, helped tweak the algorithm, and named and wrote descriptions of the 18 personalities, each of which had to be unique, appealing and, of course, INCREDIBLY ACCURATE.

Below the carousel are several. Feel free to read until you find the personality that perfectly describes you. But I already know which one you’ll choose.

Your signature is The Restless Tinkerer

Your essence is curious pragmatism. Your hands are your tools, your tools are your hands. You find typical life boring, so what do you do? Drive across Africa in a hand assembled AWD? Yes. Redecorate an 18th Century villa in Tuscany? Yes. Trouble-shoot your neighbor’s marriage? Absolutely.

You took apart your first computer at 7 and built your first gray water system at 15. You love to get your hands dirty. Logic is more straightforward than emotion. You’re stubborn and you’d rather listen to podcasts than criticism. If only your friends understood. Why do they seem to think that you are so unpredictable? Why do they still want an apology for the night that you forgot about hosting New Year's Eve dinner and instead went solo ice climbing?

Well, the first sign of a crisis and they’ll be back, pounding at your door.

Major bummer: Paper cuts

Your signature is The Solitary Perfectionist

Improvement is your essence. Can things be made better? Yes. Who’s going to do it? You.

When you look at the world you see problems to be solved, systems to be designed, and plans to be laid; everything an elaborate puzzle to be solved. And you love puzzles. You are an expert in your field, no matter what that field is. You tend to work alone, because it’s hard to find people who are as amazingly competent as you.

People think you are full of yourself, but when they see that what you are full of is actually pure genius, they get out of your way. Imaginative yet skeptical, you wait until people ask for your help. It will only be a matter of time.

Secret Skill: Sock matching

Your signature is The Selfless Defender

Your essence is idealism. Saving the world or saving the neighbor, for you it’s just another day. Your strong ideals and strong morals make you a tireless advocate and an inspiration to everyone.  You know inequity is all around us, and you know that it doesn’t have to be this way. You fight injustice, teach at the university, and minister over your flock. And if there are troops that need to be rallied, you’re just the person to do it. You know that people have the capability to do anything, they just need to be shown the way.

While not crusading, you throw séances, speak 6 languages, and always love a good game of bridge. People recognize you from your appearances on late night talk shows.

You know the answer before the question is even asked. You know what is right. Others talk, you think.

Preferred transportation: Pope-Mobile.

Your signature is The Sexy Shaman

Your essence is comfort and help. Sure you enjoy a good night out on the town, but that’s just a brief respite from your real job: eradicating hunger, battling disease, saving the whales, halting climate change, fighting for social justice, or just listening to a stranger complain about his problems down at the local pub. You’re a reserved idealist who prefers to work alone. Your sincerity makes you trust-worthy, your high standards make you effective, your commitment makes you attractive.

You may not be able to answer the eternal question “What is the meaning of life”, but you know how to use a defibrillator.

Favorite magazine: Hipster Para-Medic

Your signature is Captain Optimism

Your essence is passion. Things that you’ve been known to say: Lets do it! Who want’s to try again? That wasn’t so bad was it? I don’t think you’re injured too badly!

You’re the one who tells people that being fired is a great way to find a better job. Who believes a stolen car is a chance to get more exercise on your bike. Who thinks an earthquake is the perfect opportunity to get outside!

You are enthusiastic and energetic. To you there is always a bright side, a silver lining, a chance for something great to occur.

And you’re just the one to make it happen.

Favored communication: Emoji

Your signature is The Ingenious Scientist

Analyzing problems is your essence. For you, every day begins with a thousand new theories. No conundrum is too big or too small. Today you tackle the chicken and the egg, tomorrow cancer. Just because some of your ideas don’t always make sense, doesn’t mean they’re not feasible, you just need a little more time to work out the details. Besides, you’ve got more important challenges to solve! Some think you’re aloof, but you’re really just waiting for someone to ask what’s happening in your secret basement laboratory.

Weekend chore: Solving the Riemann Hypothesis

Your signature is The Master of Ceremonies

Your essence is fun. Your mailbox is full of invitations because you are cure for the dull, the antidote for boredom, the person who can make even a night in jail seem like a trip to the comedy club. You were born to entertain. We only live once, and you’re going to make it count. And if life is just a performance? Then yours is going to bring down the house.

Enthusiastic? Look it up. There’s your picture! You look great.

You love surprises, juggling, jokes, and animals. Relationships, on the other hand, are a bit more challenging. Why does everyone always want to be so serious? Remember the time you gave your date that fake engagement ring? Why didn’t they laugh?

No one has ever heard you complain. OK, maybe that one time.

Secret career: Customer service representative.

Your signature is The Great Problem Solver

Your essence is the challenge. You live for a good problem to tackle: Leaky toilet? Fuzzy math? 3 of 4 engines are out on your 747, midway through your flight to Brazil? Bring it.

You carry an entire set of power tools in your car’s trunk and a complete set of hex wrenches in your puffy vest. We won’t even mention where you keep your needle-nose pliers. You know how to code.

You love to look at things from a new perspective. Some might say you love a good argument, but you prefer to call it a spirited discussion. And you love putting your theories into practice. Just be careful to not irradiate the surrounding 5 miles. You love it when you’re right, and you hate it when you’re wrong.

Holiday Wish List: An “out of the box” box

Your signature is The Powerful Persuader

Your essence is charisma. You, my friend, are a natural salesperson. Not only could you could sell the Brooklyn Bridge, you could sell it twice. To the same person.

That isn’t to say that you’re dishonest, you just have a very powerful natural gift, and its up to you how you use it.

You understand people. You know how to convince them. You know how to motivate them. You are equal parts compassion, empathy, and charm. People trust and love you for it.

Go out there. Use your super powers. But use them for good. The world needs you.

Nightmare: Lost internet connection.

Your signature is The Celebrated CEO

Your essence is command and control. It’s lonely at the top, but that’s the way you like it. You take charge, whether in the executive suite or in the living room.

Is it time to launch that new European office? Yes it is.
Is it time to watch that new European movie? Yes it is.

You admire efficiency and competency. Less motivated people can be overwhelmed by your approach, but many welcome it. They need your strong point of view, not to mention your fabulous sense of style. Can you fail? Maybe, but it sure beats death-by-committee and feeble consensus building.

Someone has to make the decision. And that someone, as always, is you.
