Zuora

Perhaps you haven’t noticed, but people aren’t buying things the way that used to. Now, they’re subscribing: to music, travel, food, news, cars; to just about everything.  And the engine of much of this change is a subscription software company called Zuora. Every year Zuora hosts the world’s largest subscription event, globally broadcast and aptly named “Subscribe”,  and each year this event needs a video that can turn Zoura’s strategic vision onto an idea that captures the imagination of the world.

For the last 4 years I have worked closely with the Zuora team and their CEO to concept and create these foundational messages. Then, I not only wrote the scripts, but art directed and oversaw each production as creative director.

Much more than mere videos, these ideas became the structural underpinnings for the brand’s global messaging. Each required a thorough understanding of the ever-changing complexities of Zuora’s subscription world, and resulted in a highly strategic creative idea that was used not just for the video, but that also became the company’s outbound strategic messaging for the year.

Asking a simple human question, and using a highly memorable mnemonic, here is just one example.
